About Livia

Livia is a boutique, founder-led home care service in Toronto and the GTA. We match each person with a certified personal support worker (PSW) who fits their language, culture and personality. Then we keep that same caregiver with them, week after week.

Every decision at Livia comes back to one question: would I use this for my parents? So every family knows Samantha, our founder, personally. She checks in after visits, sends you a weekly update and visits clients herself.

What Makes Us Different

The right caregiver, every week

One caregiver, chosen for your parent, who stays.

  • Matching you can be part of. Good care starts with understanding the person. Before we introduce anyone, we learn about your parent's language, culture, personality, routines and what matters to them. You're welcome to be involved in choosing, and if the fit isn't right, we'll make a change.

  • Care in their own language. Our caregivers speak English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Vietnamese and other languages. Need a language that isn't listed? Tell us. We'll look for a caregiver who speaks it, and let you know honestly what we find.

  • The same caregiver every week. Your parent comes to know one person, and that person comes to know them well. Over time, that familiarity becomes a sense of being at home.

  • Certified, checked and insured. All caregivers are certified PSWs, police-checked and immunized. Livia is insured and bonded.

Direct access to our founder

Livia is boutique by design, so you deal with Samantha, not a call centre.

  • You'll know who to call. Samantha knows every client personally. You have her direct number, and she visits clients herself from time to time.

  • You’ll meet her in person. Before care starts, Samantha meets you and your family in person, so you know exactly who you’re trusting with your parent’s care.

Close to your parent, wherever you live

Many of our families are adult children in another city or country. Others are seniors living on their own, without family nearby. Either way, we want to be a trusted presence close by.

  • A weekly update. A short written note on how your parent is doing, every week.

  • Regular calls with Samantha. Monthly or every two weeks, whichever suits you, to talk through how things are going.

  • A call right away when it matters. If something changes or needs your attention, Samantha calls you directly.

Our Programs

Personalized 1:1 home care

One dedicated caregiver at home, matched to your parent's language, culture and routines. Help with personal care, meals, getting out and about, recovery after a hospital stay, respite for family caregivers, and overnight care.

For families who want reliable, personal care at home and one trusted person to call.

Dementia companion

For families of someone living with Alzheimer's or another dementia.

A caregiver who speaks your loved one's language, understands their culture and gets to know their story. Each week is shaped around them, with music, stories, walks and familiar routines. Available at home or alongside the care in a long-term care or retirement home.

Respite care for family caregivers

Caring for a parent is demanding, even when it comes from love. Respite care gives you time to rest, work, travel or simply step away, knowing your parent is with someone they already know. Book it regularly or for a stretch of time when you need it.

Overnight care

Nights can be the hardest part, especially after a fall, a hospital stay or when someone gets up often. An overnight caregiver helps with toileting, repositioning and reassurance, so your parent is safe and the family can sleep.

Recovery after a hospital stay

For families planning a hospital discharge, or the first weeks back home.

Support at home after a hospital stay, with personal care, meals, medication reminders and moving around safely. Short-term while your parent recovers, or ongoing if it helps, and it can work alongside care arranged through Ontario Health atHome.

Help Getting Started

Knowing where to begin isn't always clear. We're happy to point you in the right direction, even if you don't end up working with us.

Government-funded home care. Ontario Health atHome arranges publicly funded home care across Ontario. Anyone can call  1‑833‑515‑1234 or visit Ontario Health atHome to ask what your parent may qualify for. Livia's care can work alongside it.

Making home safer. Small changes like grab bars, better lighting and fewer tripping hazards help people stay home longer. We can do a free assessment and point you to trusted local resources to get started.

Frequently Asked Questions

What areas does Livia Care serve?

We provide home care across Toronto and the GTA. Areas and neighborhoods served include Rosedale, Forest Hill, Bridle Path, Lawrence Park, Leaside, Yorkville, Thornhill, North York, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Oakville, Richmond Hill, Markham, Vaughan, Aurora and King City.

How do you match caregivers with clients?

We get to know your loved one first: their language, culture, personality, health and routines. We then look for a certified PSW who fits on all of these, and you're welcome to be part of the decision. Where we can, we also match you with a caregiver who lives nearby, so visits start on time and are less affected by traffic or weather.

Will my parent have the same caregiver every time?

Yes. Keeping the same caregiver over time is central to how Livia works. If the fit isn't right, we'll make a change.

What happens if our caregiver is sick or on vacation?

Each client has a backup caregiver who meets them in advance and follows the same care notes. For planned time off, we’ll let you know ahead of time. For sudden illness, Samantha will call you as soon as possible to confirm who’s coming.

Do I need a referral or assessment to start?

No. Livia is private home care, so you can call or text us directly. We start with a conversation about your parent and what would help.

What’s the difference between Ontario Health atHome and private home care?

Ontario Health atHome provides publicly funded home care, covered by OHIP. A care coordinator assesses your parent’s needs and decides what’s offered, so hours are often limited and you usually don’t choose your caregiver. Private home care like Livia is paid for directly, so you decide the hours, and we match a caregiver on language, culture and personality. Many families use both. Not sure how to apply for public care? We’re happy to walk you through the first steps, or you can call Ontario Health atHome at 1‑833‑515‑1234.

Are your caregivers certified and insured?

All Livia caregivers are certified personal support workers (PSWs), police-checked and immunized. Livia is insured and bonded.

How much does home care with Livia cost?

It depends on the type and amount of care your parent needs. Call or text us for a clear quote after a short conversation.

I live outside Toronto. How will I know how my parent is doing?

Being far from a parent brings its own kind of worry. We want to be your trusted face here, close to them. You’ll get a weekly written update, regular calls with Samantha, and a call right away if something needs your attention, so you always know how your parent is doing.

Tell us about your loved one

Share a little about who your loved one is, and we'll talk through what a good week could look like for them.
