Personalized 1:1 Home Care
One caregiver, carefully matched to your parent, who comes back week after week. Livia's certified PSWs help with personal care and daily life at home, and Samantha, our founder, stays personally involved from the first call onward.
How we match your caregiver
-
A first call. Tell us what's happening and what kind of help would make a difference. We'll talk through timing, schedule and what to expect.
-
Meeting your parent. Before care starts, Samantha meets your parent and family in person to get to know them, from the language they're most comfortable in to the food they love and how they like to start the morning.
-
Choosing together. We look for a caregiver who fits on language, culture, personality and skills. Our caregivers speak English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Vietnamese and other languages, and we'll look for others on request. You're welcome to be part of the decision. Where we can, we also match you with a caregiver who lives nearby, so visits start on time and are less affected by traffic or weather.
-
The first visits. Samantha checks in with the caregiver after visits and with you, so small things get adjusted early.
-
The same caregiver, ongoing. Your parent keeps the same person over time. If their caregiver is ever sick or away, a backup caregiver who already knows their routines steps in. If the fit ever isn't right, we'll make a change.

Questions Families Ask
How soon can care start?
Usually within a few days of meeting your family. Because we match on language, culture and personality, finding the right caregiver can sometimes take a little longer, especially for less common languages. If care is urgent, tell us and we’ll do everything we can to start sooner.
What’s the difference between a PSW and a companion?
A companion offers company and help around the house, such as conversation, meals, walks and errands. A personal support worker (PSW) has completed formal training and can also help with hands-on personal care, like bathing, dressing, toileting and moving safely. All Livia caregivers are certified PSWs, so one person can do both, and your parent can keep the same caregiver as their needs change.
What if my parent doesn’t get along with their caregiver?
Tell us. Fit matters to us as much as it does to you, and we’ll find someone better suited
What happens if our caregiver is sick or on vacation?
Each client has a backup caregiver who meets them in advance and follows the same care notes. For planned time off, we’ll let you know ahead of time. For sudden illness, Samantha will call you as soon as possible to confirm who’s coming.
Can I get a caregiver who speaks my parent's language?
Our caregivers speak English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Vietnamese and other languages. If you need another language, we'll look for a caregiver who speaks it.
Can a Livia caregiver support my parent in a retirement home?
Yes. Our caregivers add one-on-one time alongside the home’s own care, in your parent’s language where possible. If your parent is living with dementia, our Dementia Companion program offers activities built around their life story, with a weekly update for you.
Can caregivers come to appointments or run errands by car?
Some of our caregivers drive and can accompany your parent to appointments or run errands. If this is something you need, let us know at the start, so we can match you with a caregiver who can.
What is the minimum visit length?
Visits are typically a minimum of 3 hours. If we can match you with a caregiver who lives nearby, 2-hour visits may be possible, since less travel makes a shorter visit workable. There’s no weekly minimum. Many families begin with one visit a week, then adjust as they see what helps most.
Is there a long-term contract? Can we pause or cancel?
No. There’s no long-term contract. We ask for 48 hours’ notice to cancel or move a visit, since our caregivers plan their week around your parent. You can pause care for travel or a hospital stay, and if your parent is admitted to hospital unexpectedly, there’s no charge for the missed visits. To end care, just give us a week’s notice.
What happens in an emergency?
All our caregivers are trained in First Aid and CPR. In a medical emergency, your caregiver calls 911 first and stays with your parent until help arrives, then calls Samantha, who is reachable after hours for emergencies and will call you right away. Before care starts, we gather emergency contacts, medications and health details, so your caregiver knows exactly what to do.
